Letter To Speaker

Dear Speaker,

A Few days ago I took sometime and read your narrative “Ambush.” From Beginning to end I
was touched by how well you had expressed yourself. I couldn’t even imagine what it was going to war, and leaving your family. When you wrote in your narrative” It was a difficult moment, but I did what seemed right, which was to say, “Of course not”,I figured you couldn’t be able to tell your daughter because you were afraid of what she might think. There’s times in life when you do everything that you can do possible to not hurt the ones you love and I think you did that with Kathleen. But she wouldn’t jugde you for killing someone because you didn’t do it on purpose.
To me you are a very brave man for doing what you did, fight for our country,
no matter what you have to do. I wouldn’t be able to do something like that because that means I would have to leave me family behind and loved ones behind. You could have been in Peril but that didn’t stop you. I know that you were affected by killing the young man, but if you think about it you can’t blame yourself because its not your fault. Everything happens for a reason, what you did was just try and protect yourself and your other soldiers. When I read your short story I wondered this must be how the people in Iraq are feeling and I complain about things that I shouldn’t complain about, when out there in world there is people fighting to keep me and this country protected. Sometimes I do things I’m not suppose to and I take what I have for granted when I know that what I have is something I shouldn’t take for granted.
The advice I could give you is don’t blame yourself for doing what you did. I know it’s hard but
you said “ It was entirely automatic.” so you didn’t do it to hurt him. Another thing is in the future if you do wish to tell Kathleen, tell her don’t be afraid that she’s gonna judge you because she’s not, she’s even gonna tell you that it wasn’t your fault. Finally this narrative left me in such Gape because it thought me many things that I know I’m gonna need in the near future or maybe now and I wanted to thank you for being a brave man and doing what you thought was right.

Sincerely.
Steffy Zambrano

Cooperative Learning:
What aspect of the conditions aboard ship does the protagonist stress in this account?
The Conditions of the ship were deadly. They were under a deck, that was contaminated, sickness spread amongst because of contamination.

Cite two examples of the slave traders’ cruelty to slaves.
What might have motivated the trader’s behavior toward their human cargo? Explain.
Two examples of the slave traders cruelty is that they made then go through hunger, or get hit with a whip.

For what crimes were slaves punished? And what was the punishment?
They Slaves were punished when they tried to get food, because most slaves have rather throw themselves of the ship then die of hunger. As their punishment they were drowned, of hit with a whip.
Critical Thinking Questions:

Interpret: Why does Equiano blame the illness aboard the ship on the “improvident avarice” of the traders?
Eqiano blamed the illness aboard because traders didn't care about what they slaves went through they just wanted to get as much slaves as they could. They cared more about how much money they would receive so thats why they stacked them as if nothing not caring about the emotional and physical affects.

Support from the text: How can you tell that Equiano has a great zest for life despite his assertion that he wanted to die?
Equiano has a great enjoyment for life because he had never seen most of the things he saw, after he was taking out the ship. For example when he saw the houses he quotes "What struck me first was that the houses were built with stories." The things Equiano saw where things he hadn't see. "I was still more astonished on seeing people on horseback" he saw horse, houses, etc. which amazed him.

"I Am Nobody, Who are you?"

"I Am Nobody, Who are you?" -Emily Dickson

I am Steffy Zambrano. I am a girl who loves to play volleyball. I am a singer, but no i do not hit Jordin Sparks high notes because my vocals are far from that. I am a dreamer.I am a girl who is trying to pursue many dreams. I am afraid of the speed bumps life puts on the road. I am who I am, take it or leave it because I'm not changing for no one and being me is what is going to take me far in life. I am the best baker in this world and my cupcakes are not topped by no one. I am a star cause I shine in the hallways of ITHS. And I am not going to make my dream come true I am going to become my dream.
